It all began when Vickie & Craig Musni went on cruise out of New Orleans in March of 2012. Reno local Vickie Musni was speaking at a conference that was being held on board the ship, and so was David Wyatt, co-owner of the nation-wide company DJ Trivia. The last night of the cruise the conference group gathered and played a game of DJ Trivia. Vickie remembers saying to her husband Craig, “Reno needs this. As soon as we’re ready to buy into another business, this should be it.” At the time they held the contract managing the wedding photography at the Peppermill Hotel and Casino in Reno. Once that contract ended, they began making plans to bring DJ Trivia to Nevada.
The very first weekly DJ Trivia game in Nevada took place at the Little Waldorf on April 15, 2013. The Wal continues as our longest running venue partner. Slowly and carefully, Vickie and Craig began to add more venue partners and more hosts, building DJ Trivia Nevada into the kind of family business they wanted it to be. “As the parents of 4 kids – now all teenagers – we believe it’s important to have a family-friendly trivia game at restaurants that is fun for all ages.” Vickie adds, “We like being the ‘clean and classy’ trivia option that caters to families, students and professionals who want to go out and have some fun, but still be able to get up and go to work the next morning.”
DJ Trivia Nevada expands beyond Reno
Four years into the DJ Trivia journey, Vickie and Craig Musni bought a second territory so they could expand to other parts of the region outside of Reno and Sparks. They currently operate 23 weekly games in Northern Nevada, including areas like Carson City and Fallon. A team of 13 employees host the 20+ weekly games. Vickie refers to their team as the “DJ Trivia Nevada Family.”
Hannah Bailey became a DJ Trivia host in Reno in 2016. They both knew there was something special about her. It was bitter-sweet when Hannah left Reno, but after a brief move to Minnesota, she returned to Nevada…but this time to Las Vegas. Hannah and her boyfriend Jon Hale continue to grow the DJ Trivia name – and “family” – bringing DJ Trivia to communities in Southern Nevada.
If you haven’t already played DJ Trivia we encourage you to come to a game soon. Playing at one of our locations helps you become part of the great big extended DJ Trivia family!
